Pour quoi frog?

Why frogs? Well, why not. These frogs are for Darcy, who has been in isolation in The Sydney Children's Hospital. If you want to follow Darcy's progress check out the journal updates here: www.caringbridge.org/visit/darcygilmour10/journal

If you want to make a frog you can find instructions at: http://www.savethefrogs.com/teachers/images/Origami-Jumping-Frog.pdf .

If frogs are beyond you, you can also give blood. Details of how available from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.

Frog wheel drive

A little drive in the country.

Frog decides to go on the back roads.

What's a little dirt?

It's just not cricket. Or is it?

An unsuspecting Frog finds herself suddenly involved in a game of with cricket.

It's a little tricky to work out the rules.

Frog-Cricket seems to involve playing Chicken.

(That's a long way down)

There's a bit of shoving...

A bit of pulling...

And a desperate cry for help as the Cricket realises the danger...

And then suddenly it's all over. With Frog left exhausted. And a bit on edge.

Is a frog necessary on a bicycle?

Full of the joys of spring, Frog decides to go for a ride.
But on these modern day bikes there are so many things to think about.

Is the seat the right ?

 Handle bars correctly adjusted?

Tyre pressure OK?

Good.

Time to hop on the pedals then...

Royal treatment

If its good enough for Her Maj....

Its good enough for frogs.

Just like good Queen Bess (the second), the frogs go mad for Floriade.

Canberra in spring.
Gorgeous!

Frog feet plus frog

First, there were the feet.

Now there's the whole frog.

Anyone out there wants to go nuts with macrame and make one of these, go right ahead and then send me the piccies.

Doeberl Frog

The Frogprince hoppens to notice that the 2011 Doeberl Cup Chess Competition is in full swing in Canberra. On a whim, he decides to register. But what division would be most appropriate for a frog of his calibre ... ?

... Premier. Of course.

It's been a while ... some quick revision is probably in order.

Mm-hm, yep, got it.

Chess is a battle of wills, you need tenacity and focus and the ability to maintain cool under pressure. The Frogprince faces a fearsome opponent with steely resolve.

Sadly, it quickly becomes clear that none of the players is a match for the Frogprince. They don't train for full contact chess like they used to.

I know what Frogs like

Well, I know what one frog likes.

Grandpa Frog is a bit of a traditionalist.  A weekend just isn't right unless you can sit down with the papers - particularly the weekend magazine.

As flexible as a frog

Grandpa frog likes to keep fit.
Here he's getting ready to do pushups.

Touch his toes.

And, of course, he can still do the splits.

But even Grandpa Frog draws the line somewhere.

The Frog Pose in yoga is just one step too far.

Up, up and away...

A frog jumped out of his pond one day...
And found himself...

... at the balloon festival

What's not to love?

Frogs in Middle-Earth?

One day Frog got to wondering about the other lives he could have lived.
What if, instead of being born into a pond, he had been born into a whole other place?

His mind went hopping ... down the highways and byways of Middle Earth.
After all, 'Hobbit' isn't so far from 'Ribbit' really.

And he could see himself as a hobbit - if only he could think of a name.

Ah hah!  I have it!
Orgulas Maggot.

A fine hobbit name.

Frogs on Ice

It's like Disney on Ice
(but with a much smaller budget).

Frogs have taken up ice-skating.
Behold the grace with which they glide around the rink.

Some humans challenge them...

...to a friendly game of ice-hockey.

The frogs happily accept
before realising that it could all go...

...horribly wrong.

(Thanks to the Irvines for risking their lives on the glacier to capture this footage)

What happens on tour stays on tour

Some frogs are on tour in Papua New Guinea.

And whilst the old adage about what happens on tour is generally true,  a few photos appear to be leaking out....

One bed. Eight frogs.

A day at the races

As the Summer Racing Carnival draws to a close, there's one day that is a must for frog-loving race enthusiasts. Or is that race-loving frog enthusiasts?

Either way you can be sure to see plenty of hot hat action at the Golden Frog Stakes Race Day.

Anna studies the form whilst wearing a  jaunty little number...

Claire models the new look: centre-part, side-frog

Clear winners: Fashions on the field.

You can never have too much of a good frog!
