Pour quoi frog?

Why frogs? Well, why not. These frogs are for Darcy, who has been in isolation in The Sydney Children's Hospital. If you want to follow Darcy's progress check out the journal updates here: www.caringbridge.org/visit/darcygilmour10/journal

If you want to make a frog you can find instructions at: http://www.savethefrogs.com/teachers/images/Origami-Jumping-Frog.pdf .

If frogs are beyond you, you can also give blood. Details of how available from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.

Police frogs

Turns out I'm not the only one who has noticed the devilish behaviour of toads and the need for law enforcement when it comes to dealing with these most dastardly amphibians.

Frog cops needs cars in order to enter into hot hop pursuit.

This one is a beauty.

Victory

Once the potatoes entered the war, the toads were soon vanquished...

on the run...

consigned to the recycling..

...and the rubbish.

Hurrah for Frogs and Tattties.

The question remains though... is it possible to rehabilitate a Toad?

Toad Wars - once more unto the breach dear friends

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our Potato mash.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a frog
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger-frog;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the cold-blood…
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Tadpoles, Tatties, and Saint Frog!'

Toad Wars - the emergence of an ally

Things were looking grim in the war between the frogs and the toads.
Despite the ocassional victory, the frog casualites were high.

Most frogs felt they were fighting a losing battle and some even contemplated raising the white flag of surrender. Others suggested they should sue for peace.

But one frog took it upon himself to seek advice from a well-known international spokesperson on matters of peace, security and governance ...

Coffee Annan.
(any resemblence to the former head of the UN is co-incidental. Well, a bit. Well, maybe not at all.).
Annan had long supported Demfrogracy over the Toads preferred forms of governance - Squattocracy (literary minded types can find out more here) and Dictoadorship.

His advice was simple: seek out allies who can help you overcome the toads of evil.

And so the Potatoes entered the fray!

And in pre-emptive reply to those who were expecting a Valentine's Day post, consider this one to be linked to the theme of  massacre rather than the commercialisation of lurve.

The Toad Wars

After the incident at the restaurant the battles began.

Frogs and Toads would face off whenever they met in the street.

Sometimes the Toads won with their superior strength.

 And sometimes...

... they did not.

They are here - the Toad Wars begin

Who would have believed that it would be restaurant reviews that would tip the Frogs and the Toads into open warfare?

But sure enough, that's how it started - with a dispute between the food critic for the Good Frog Guide (elegantly dressed in pink) and the usurping Black Toad.

At first it seemed the Frog had won the right to conduct the review...

But meanwhile the Black Toad was marshalling the forces of evil...

And came back to the restaurant, flanked by the Red Guard.

Poor frog was muscled out, left with only a few crumbs.

They are here (part three)

The toads were making their presence felt.
Sometimes it was subtle, with toads getting jobs as food critics.
(This rice is sticky)

And sometimes it was more blatant.
There was no doubt, the toads were organised.
The elite artistic thinking types got together with the rank and file...

And formed the red guard - a formidable fighting force.

They are here (part two)

The Toads quickly developed a reputation. And it was not a good one.

They were bigger, meaner and uglier than the frogs...

And they weren't afraid to carry weapons

They drove around like they owned the place...
(poop poop)

....and let nothing and no-one stand in their way.

They are here

The Toads.

They're here.

Everywhere you look, there's a toad.

In the pantry.

On the BBQ.

 In the fountain.

In the herb garden.

 In the fruit bowl.

 On the fruit.

In the fruit.
(Blogees may be interested to note that Toads, like monkeys, peel their bananas from the bottom up)

Can nothing stop this invasion?

They are (still) coming...

First, the alien spawn appeared...

Then, the first one hatched...

...then thick and fast they emerged...

They are coming.... (part two)

Lurking deep in the reeds....

...the Toads positioned themselves so they could spy on the unsuspecting frogs.

This was no chance scuffle over territory.
This had all the hallmarks of a government conspiracy.

This was ...
Toad Murder!

They are coming....

No one would have believed, in the first days of the new year, that our frogs were being watched...

Happily they played in the Frog Dam, caring nothing for what went on in the outside world.
Little did they suspect that danger was coming.

Beyond the banana curtain ....

Evil was lurking.

They were....

The Toads!
